I have a 1996 Explorer and the other day I noticed a wire with a connector on the end hanging down underneath my dash. It's a light blue wire with a yellow stripe and is hanging down just behind the hood release lever, I crawled under the dash to look for where it should be connected and I couldn't find anything. Everything seems to be working fine, but I was curious if anyone had any clue what it is for and where it can be plugged back in. Thanks for the help.

How are your speakers wired? I see in your sig that you have Alpine speakers. If the factory speaker wiring was bypassed it could be the one of the left front speaker wires.

This would explain why it's buy hood release.

I re-used the factory wires for the speakers, so I don't think that's it and also the wire doesn't look like it extends more than 6-8 inches so it must be something around that area.

could it be something for the foot heater? just an idea.
