Up or down???/

I have seen a lot of CONFUSED Explorers, don't go that same route. I see 4wd Explorers lowered with big 4X4 stickers, 18" rims, chrome grill guards and tail guards and euro lights. I mean really, give me a break. I mean, why mix street stuff with offroad stuff? Maybe I should buy a honda civic, put a TYPE R sticker on it and then put a 4" suspension lift on it. For some reason the guys around here think that a 30 dollar pipe, a type R sticker and some Wal Mart window tint will make them the fastest thing on the street. Sorry, I got a little off topic.

I am not trying to put you down, I am just saying if you have 4x4 then leave it stock or maybe get some tires. If you want something lowered, buy a Camry.

*This is only my opinion and does not reflect the opinions of www.explorer4x4.com

Then again, opinions are like a$$holes, everbody has one.

The only problem I see with lowering the first-generation 4x4 Explorers is that you can't go very far down (well... maybe you could do a body drop...) with the suspension before you get trouble because of the diff.

BislamJoe,

I see a more Problems you will run in to when Lowering a 91-94 Explorer.

1. If you put lowering Spring on a Dana35 you will end up on rideing on the Bump stops not much Clearance there.

2. You have the Hubs that will not fit those "awsome" 20" rims

3. You do a body drop that is Not going to be much fun riding on the frame.

I have nothing against lowered Explorers... In fact I want one that is Set up for Street(working on a deal to buy one right now). But the Fact Remains if you have a pre-94 Explorer 4x4 the only way to set it up for Street use is to replace the entire Front suspention. Trust me I helped a Guy on www.explorerunderground.com with a parts list to convert his 4x4 to a 2wd.

I was agreeing with you Kris; as for the hubs, there is a guy on the board with a '93 4x4 that put 18" rims on his, he had the center caps machined to clear the hubs. Can you lower the first-generation trucks at all? Or only just a very tiny bit?

He would have had to have more machined than just the Center caps or at least run Spacers or some thing.

I talked to some one at Explorer Express about lowering a first Gen Explorer one time and They told me if you lower even a 2wd one it will Ride like Crap.

The Best way I heard to lower one is with Drop I beams.

Here are some pics of my rims wit the machining:

The guy at the place machined it out and it fit perfectly. I am also not running any spacers at all.

Ryan,

That looks Nice... What rims are those? I was thinking of Cobra R's For the Explorer I am About to buy but those look nice.

They are 18x9" ROH RT. I originally wanted to get Cobra-R's and I got these because they look similiar to these

but I didn't like the fact that you need spacers to run them on the early model 4x4's.

hahaha

lift...
