- 1998 Explorer XLT
After getting the 1998 last august I joined this forum for ideas and tips on my journey to getting this xlt back to where I want it. It had been hit on the drivers side door and rolled onto the passenger side by the previous owner. It still ran great!!! As of right now its had two rack replacements, a complete front end rebuild (all bushings, ball joints, upper control arms and sway bar end links). New passenger side front door glass regulator and side view mirror. new battery new belt new p.s pump and lines.I also added a junkyard inst. cluster and a set of white face led gauges. It was getting real crappy gas mileage but after a visit to my local Firestone for four new tires an alignment and oil change I am at a pretty consistent 22.3 mpg. Today I added an Ebay CAI Just because I figured it couldn't hurt to have, plus it was blue to kind of match the vehicle color. Its turned out to be a super dependable vehicle that has decent get up and go when you decide to floor it. Thanks guys for the great write ups!!! Ill upload pictures as well at some point today
