I've managed to snap one of the bolts holding the thermostat housing onto the front of my engine, I've tried extracting it with 2 nuts on, that hasn't worked.... the only real option I have left is to put an oxy-acetelene torch on it...

It's a 2000 V8, will the lower inlet manifold, which is where the broken bolt is, take the heat?

As long as you don't use a cutting torch you should be fine.

It'll be fine, just don't get too close to the lower intake. I had to use the torch on my lower bolt as it snapped off as well. Broke free quickly after though

I've used a whole propane gas bottle, little blue one, nearly a whole can of liquid wrench and a whole can of WD40.... still stuck solid...

Mix some solvent (acetone is best) and trans fluid, shoot some on the bolt and let it work overnight. Then re try the heat, and use a hammer to tap the bolt a tad tighter, assuming you are using a vice grip pliers, tap the pliers with a hammer. try to work the bolt back and forth and it should break free with patience. You may need to heat it, shoot in the solvent trans fluid mix and let soak, then re heat a few times. every time it is heated then treated with the mix, the heat will help to carry it down the bolt.

Forgot to update this, bolt is out, everything is back together and working properly!

Thanks for the help guys
