V6 or V8? That is the question...

I guess the V8 is the engine of choice. I rarely go off-road, so AWD would probably work fine. And yes, my 93 has already had the tranny rebuilt once, and I really don't want to have to do that again...

I think my AWD does a much better job off road than my v6 did in 4auto. My low range was never much use to me since the stock t case torque on demand clutch went south.

Definately go V8, unless you want low, then i'd hit up the SOHC.
You could always swap in a transfer case with low out of a fullsize, only problem is getting it to fit.
An atlas II will fit... and maybe an np205(if you want it really low, you could always get a 203 doubler for it), you just need to clearance the t-case adapter for the shift linkage and make yourself a custom crossmember to support the weight of the HEAVY cast iron case.
