I have a 2006 ford explorer V6 model with 124,x.. miles wth no problems. my question is, does the V6 have the same problem as a V8 when it comes to changing out spark plugs? spark plug breakage, getting stuck, etc.

so used to working on civics and integras its kinda wild to see how much fun it is to work on FORDS. lol! just changed oil the other day and I was amazed what a pain it was to loosen the oil filter compared to an integra that is.

No, the V6 uses the normal style of spark plugs (no two or three piece POS design). Search in this forum and you will find discussion on the plugs for the V6.

It sounds like the plugs must have been changed at some point before you got the vehicle because you would be having problems by now if you were still on the original platinum plugs.

I changed out mine with no problems. I did find that I have more power at acceleration because my plugs had 127K on them and the gap was extremely large on the old ones. Changing the wires on the right side of the engine was a pain. The wires are routed behind the alternator thru a plastic piece. I loosened the alternator to move it out of the way. I didn't take it out fully because one of the mounting bolts was giving me a heck of a time. Even trying to heat it, it would have snapped. But the alternator needs to be moved to route the wires in the original position.

Thanks for the heads up. At first glance I could tell the right side would be a pain due to the wires going behind stuff. Thank you Ford. Lol! I'll be doing a plug and wire change soon.
