I am looking for a donor Explorer for my V8 swap. But I have a question for those who have done this swap. One of the problems is the PATS system, I was wondering if anyone has disabled their PATS using an XCAL2 tuner?

Torrie dont get offended by me asking this if you read it. Just curious if others have done this, in lieu of getting new keys and all the other work that is involved.

I believe that there are years that don't have it, if you search a little bit you should be able to find that info. I know it's around the 97-98 year mark though.

Chad, you should have no trouble using a 99-01 PCM with your keys and PATS module, if that is what you want. The PCM and PATS module have to be married, which takes a special Ford tool. The point is that your existing keys can remain, making the donor PCM work would include the keys. I don't know if the process(special Ford tool) would simply change the PCM, or if the keys would have to be programmed back in at the same time. Regards,
