Hello,
I recently bought used valve body from someone on ebay http://stores.ebay.com/Tranz-Parts. I have a couple of questions but first of all I purchased the valve body because I use my Ex to commute every day (130 mi rd trip). I thought if I bought VB that I could Mod it w/o keeping the Ex down for long.
Q1. Has any one taken a look at the EPC because the one that I have shows a resistor. Is this normal or is this a newer ford EPC(similar to superior kit) ?
Q2. I purchased the Ford upgrade kit and when I went to replace the bracket it was the same as the updated bracket. Has anyone experienced this? Is it possible that this is an newer valve body and it was already replaced by Ford(Production or Upgrade)?
Q3. Has anyone just used the Ford Upgrade kit and what were your results ?
Is it wise to use the Ford and the Superior kit or can you just use Ford's kit ?

Thanx for any assistance you can provide.
P.S. This is my 2nd or 3rd post to this

A1. If you are finding a resistor, I am assuming it was added as a modification. I am not aware of FORD adding one (but stand ready to be corrected). A2. I think FORD made a running change to the bracket assembly in 98 or 99. I have found this also. A3. I recommend you do BOTH the FORD mod and add the superior kit. While you are in there install the double lip seal on the low/reverse servo too. Your call on whether to add the Sonnax Boost Valve upgrade.

Thanx Glacier,
I originally did the double lip upgrade for the reverse delay problem but it turned into the rev/delay and 2/3 flare. A1 The resistor is in the plastic cap attached to the top of EPC if this is any help (resistor w/black or blue band). A2. Cool. A3. enuf said will order superior kit asap.

man i just thought i would say that ebay store has alot of stuff very reasonable

Hey thats what got me !

I was his first online customer (oh yay!) and i have been very pleased with my purchases from him.

Sgt. Rock... the EPC solenoid I have been using in replacements is what I understand is the OEM through 2000 at least - FORD part No. XL2Z-7G383-AA... can you confirm what the part no. is on yours ? I'm really curious.

Glacier I have XL2P-76383-AA

I just took a good look at the EPC and the 76383 the 6 looks like a 6 or G ?

I assumed as much. I ran the part on a website for parts and got no hits... Still I am very curious. I have to visit my FORD dealership to order a couple separator plates for 5R55E valve bodies I am building for folks, and will see if they come up with anything at that time.
