Has anyone replaced the HVAC control module? Reason I'm asking is that here in the past couple of weeks I've noticed when trying to change blowing modes to say defrost it won't switch to the defrosters and stays on vents. Is it possible the module is bad ir is there another piece that could be bad?

Still living with the problem. Maybe fix it this summer. Try this link http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=323586

Well I normally do not post on forums often but just had to jump in on this one.
I have spent hrs trying to get my HVAC system working. Lost air flow so here was my solution other than the many posts regarding broken doors, arms etc.

1. Removed blower (under dash) was completely full of insulation from hood. Critters had eaten through screen. Ok cleaned out and blower is no fine.

2. Noticed no air when put selector on Dash vent, or any combination?

3. No heat but had AC?

I was sure it was the switch so ordered and replaced control switch. (46.00)
Ok that did not solve the problem. Darn!

So I thought for sure it was one of the vacuum motors.

I disconnected the vacuum line at the fire wall and had vacuum good vacuum.
Disconnected hose on heater valve and valve opened up and then had heat.

Used a temp hose ran to each of the activation motors under the dash. They worked?

Then found the problem !

When putting the blower back up in the housing the vacuum lines slipped under the motor mount and pinched the lines!

Took care of the vacuum lines verified with vacuum gauge and gee all is well !

To check you motors just disconnect at the firewall and run temp hose line to the two motors to test them. If they work then pull line from reserve tank and connect at T with you test hose and if all works then you know there is a kink or leak in the vacuum system.

Cost me $46.00 to correct what was my own mistake!

Have a great day... now back to work on my 1929 Model A !!!!!
