I have a 97 explorer AWD with the 5.0. It shakes when I'm driving at any speed when I make turns and am in reverse it clicks as if I were making a sharp turn in 4wd low I checked the hub by jacking it up and seeing if the tire would shake I also checked the tie rods and ball joints does anyone have any other suggestions ?

I found out the hard way that my problem was in the transfer case. As I tried to drive it today the transfer case blew apart and some gears came out does any one know what model tcase would be in a 97 5.0 with AWD

You need a bw 4404 transfer case. If you 1997 model has a speed sensor ( or any wires) on the transfer case you need a 1997 model year specific.

If there is no sensor on the transfer case, any 1998-2001 4404 case will work

Selling my explorer

Well I think I decided to sell my explorer I had every intention of selling it soon to get something more economical it now has a blown out transfer case but it only has 87000 miles on it and was running well besides that it's inspected till December of 2014 so anyone interested I will be taking offers I will post pictures tomorrow when it's light out I live in the poconos, Pa

Can you send me a pic of it? How's the rust situation? Is it compatible in shape to the 97 in my album?

I'll send you some pics later today. It only has one rust spot on the body right above the drivers side back tire under the car is pretty standard amount of rust for a 97. It has been my daily driver so it got a bit of use it got all new spark plugs and wires this pAst summer breaks and a new hub assembly went on this past December I am moving to North Carolina in June and was planning on down sizing so with the transfer case issue I thought maybe it's time to downsize now. Ped5stang has a transfer case for 250.
