Are they any good? I'm looking for a cheap sub/amp combo to add into my base system that will make my music sound deeper and richer, and the best deals I'm finding on eBay are Visonik setups. A 10" sub with enclosure and a 1 channel amp, both rated at 300W for about $67 shipped. I'm usually one to go with the "you get what you pay for" motto, but I'm pretty desperate for a cheap setup.

If I should keep looking or something, what should I look for exactly? I've got next to no knowledge in the audio department, so keep that in mind. Thanks guys.

Look elsewhere, period.

i agree...
Visonik isn't good
And I learned it the hard way

Cheap and easy? Maybe consider a powered Bazooka tube. They run cheap on eBay. I picked up a BTA8100 at a local pawn shop for less than $35. I was going to run that until I finished my "Budget Bass" project, but was too lazy to hook it up, and it was too cold outside for me.

I was considering a bazooka tube but sort of overlooked them while browsing the pages. I'll go back and take a quick look and see what I can find, thanks for the suggestions and warning to steer clear of Visonik

Alot of people will say they are junk, but I have used Bazooka tubes with great results.

-I ran a pair of 4" non-powered Bazooka tubes running off a Crutchfield amp. Worked fine.

-I ran a Bazooka RS6A-HP in a 03 Civic EX Coupe. Worked fine. I picked that one up for $50 at a CarToys tent sale. Still in use today. The Civic was my g/f's, and the new owner of the car loves the Bazooka tube.

I've found a few auctions that I'll be keeping an eye on for the next few days, so hopefully I'll be able to get a pretty decent deal there. If not, I'll take a ride to a few places near me that might have something. Do you have any other experience with other brands or anything? The more options the better.

I think the other way around. I paid quite a bit for my Visoniks. They have been good the whole time. Had them for three years. You pay for what you get. I have 4 of there 12's.

For a while I had a Visonik 12" in my girlfriends car. It was only like 200ws or somthing but it didnt sound bad. In fact it got almost as loud as my 2 10"s. It was the amp and 12" sub combo and it was under $100. not bad!

I'm assuming the real smart thing to do would be to put the money away for a bit and save up enough for a good setup, so I might do more research and get more input before I take the plunge. I'll keep my eyes open in the mean time, so keep the opinions coming. I'd rather realize I was wrong or something now before I have it wired in the back of my truck.

idk, i bought 2 visionik subs earlier this year for $25 new and i still have them they sound pretty good too. Not as good as my 10" type r's but still good. They are wired at 4 ohms on their own channel. Plus if you are looking for a cheap set-up this is the way to go.

Does anyone else have anything to add in here? If I do decide to jump on the Visonik deal, I want to do it soon so I can hopefully get it within the week that I'm off of school.

Wal-Mart was selling the same exact thing at Christmas. The only way that amp is going to put out 300 watts is if lightning hits it.

That 300w rating is max out put not rms.

I would shop arond for something better.

Shoot me a PM. I will make you a deal on some old subs I have with an enclosure.

I've never used visonik subs, but I've used their amps before. I've always been pleased with them. I've used them twice now for budget systems and they are all still working great.

edit: on a side note, visonik subs look very close to MA audio subs in thier basic layout. I'm currently using 2 12" MA's in a ported box with a visonik amp putting 225 RMS @ 2 ohms to each one and it is enough to shake bottles in my center consol, make the roof deflect over an inch when it's really turned up... pretty good for a budjet system in my book.

i would not do the sub/speaker/tweeter combo, they do not sound good, you want the subs to stand alone.

That's kind of what I figured, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't far off base.

Yeah, those ones on eBay would not put ou the bass that you want...

Okay, made some progress today in the shopping area of this whole thing. I've found an auction for a used 12" Kicker sub (KICKER 05CVR122), most reviews I've seen for it have said it's a good sub. Hopefully with this auction I'll be able to get it for less than $30 but we'll see. If I can get this, I'll be buying a sub box on eBay probably and then using my friends amp unless I come across something else.

Edit: Just won the auction for the Kicker sub. Paying $38.50 for it. I'll be taking a ride out to Wally world and a local audio shop in a bit to look at boxes and see what kind of amps I can start looking into, as well as checking out prices on wiring kits.

Wallymart has Scosche wiring kits. Far from exciting, but useable. Cheap too.

I needed an 8 gauge run from battery to trunk in an 03 Civic EX coupe. It was cheaper for me to buy the Scosche kit then to buy enough footage from any place local that sold 8 gauge wire.

I just cut off the Scosche fuse holder, and added a Stinger inline waterproof AGU fuseholder.
