lot of it was i didnt have the time,still kind of dont, just back and forth on this cause of the kids.... hoping to within next week or so, plus with my luck and the way the truck has been going, i would isntall it and then something else would go wrong

Well it's possibly only a 20 minute job, depending on how easy it is to R&R the belt and air cleaner. When cold the bolts and alternator can be done in five minutes. Pull the battery cable off though.
