Hello everyone -

Was looking for some direction on where to look on my 1996 AWD Explorer Eddie Bauer. It has been parked for over a year and I was going to get it out and do some maintenance on it to prepare it to be driven. It has 215k miles and the drivetrain is in great condition. The issue I have noticed with it is the volume of air coming out of the vents is a little on the low side. It seems that perhaps something is keeping the air from flowing freely. It appears to be the same volume of air on recirc or from outside, and EATC is moving the air out the correct vents on the correct settings. I did replace the blower motor and resistors (or maybe it is called a controller on the EATC units - under the blower motor) before it was parked as well as inspect the wiring and all appears well there. The blower motor was an aftermarket from Auto Zone and I transferred the squirrel cage from the old motor to the new one. I wonder if the quality of that motor was just not as good (Made in China of course  ) or if there is something plugged in the evaporator or heater core? I have searched for about two hours on the forums and concluded there is no cabin air filter. Blend door seems to be fine, and air doesn't seem to be coming out the wrong outlets or "leaking." Can the evaporator or heater core be inspected/cleaned if that is indeed a suspect?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thats your next step. We used to see that happen quite a bit at our shop when customers put stored vehicles back on the road. It's amazing what actually gets into the HVAC system in a vehicle.

Thank you. Is this accessible best by removing the blower motor and just reaching in? Do you have any tips on cleaning?

Thanks
