VSS question for 4406 swap

ok i am going back and fourth on a NP205 and the bw4406
but thats not what this question is.

i have a 97 limited explorer 5.0 awd
i am putting in a different transfer case and more than likely doing the manual
bw4406.

will my truck run and shift normal with no vss

and what are my options to correct this

i did use search and have read many of the articles on this forum but haven't found a 100% fix on this yet .

My 4406 had a VSS some do not. Mine was out of a 97 F150 so maybe the early ones had a VSS.

97&98 4406 cases have the VSS you need.

Im having issues trying to find a gear so I can run my 31s I had to swap out the gear in the 4406 cause mine was a later model. So I have a 7 tooth gear in the 4406 and 3.73 gears in the diff

I had to go to a 8 tooth ring with 19t gear to get my speedo right. I have 4.88s with 35s.

You can use ring speedo gears for the 1356 transfer case and use mustang manual trans gears for the speed sensor, they are the same and have a ton of options.
