It’s time for a new used car and I want an Explorer Sport but after reading all the reviews and forums, I’m a little nervous! I’m also considering looking at an Acadia or Jeep but they don’t t have that “cool look” factor! I plan on keeping for 6-7 yrs and don’t want all these problems I’m reading about. Currently driving 2011 Cadillac SRX with 167k.

Remember that most people come to forums like this when they have issues and not to rave about how much they like their vehicle. While there are those here who do love their new Explorers, the majority are looking for answers to problems. For example, look in the Modified 2011+ subforum Modified 2011- 2019 Explorer Sport Tuning . The folks in there are modifying their new Explorers and are less likely to be complaining about issues.

Thank you for the reply and that’s what my hubby said too. I’m going to keep looking until I find the exact one!

We have a 2016 Explorer Sport that we purchased in November 30, 2016. It has a little of 20k miles on it.
The only problem is my wife, whose previous daily driver was an Escape, who says that it is "so big". It has been a great car and we have had no problems with it at all. I like it so much I am seriously considering a new 2020 ST

Welcome to this forum! Did you test drive or rent any Explorers to see how you like them?
No did not test drive one. Did a lot of reading on the internet but had not found this forum at that time.
Wanted a bigger SUV and the Explorer seemed like the nest logical step.

If you're looking at 7 seat SUVs that compete with the Explorer, I would also recommend checking out - Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-9, Acura MDX, VW Tiguan, Toyota Highlander and maybe the 4runner and Nissan Pathfinder.

If your finances allow, why not just buy a new leftover 18? I just did on Dec 21st. The sticker on mine was 53K and with the rebates and the X-plan discount I get I paid 44K for a new one. I only leased it but my payment went down from the previous vehicle it replaced. And every bank and credit union out there will give you a lower interest rate on a new vehicle than a used one, so much so it may actually work out that it is cheaper monthly to buy new.
