Waranty Concerns Regarding Tires

Is there a warranty concern if you replace non all-terrain tires on an Explorer? Many people have posted getting Michelin LTX M/S not A/T's. I replaced my Firesones with the BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's. after reading the Consumer Reports review of tires. They used the Michelin's and BF Goodrich on SUV's with excellent results. I did save the Firestones and will return them with my Explorer at the end of my lease in a year and a half.

Tires are not covered by the auto manufacturer's warranty, they are covered by the tire manufacturer's warranty. The type of tire you use is completely up to you.

Follow-up to Tire Warranty Concern

The concern is not with the warranty for replacement tires, but in that the vehicle is leased, does Ford require you to return it with the original type of tire? Could they also say that if an accident happened, it was because of the tires not being similar to the original ones?

They couldn't care less if the tires are the same or not.
