Could water in the gas tank damage the fuel injectors? And if so, would that be physical damage or would that be something that could be cleaned?

It can corrode the inside of your tank, the inside of your fuel lines and the inside of your fuel rails. Thus causing rust particles to flake off and clog up your fuel injector nozzels. They can be cleaned but not by putting injector cleaner in your tank.

Wouldn't the fuel filter block this though?

I love my tank as it is a plastic tank no corrosion allowed.. hehehe

If water gets into your GAS the Filter will not stop it and any sediment in the tank usually will get stoped by the filter, but some will get through and hit the injectors which can clog or dirty them to the extreme of not functioning properly.
