Water pump gasket?

Hello all,

I ordered a Motorcraft water pump and a Felpro water pump gasket for my 2000 SOHC EX. It came with a sheet metal stamping. Is this stamping some sort of gasket? Which one do I use, or do I use both?

Should I use a gasket sealer when putting this together?

What does the old gasket look like? As for RTV I would use some ultra black or Napa's black. I think Toyota bond is awesome. Napa's is only available in a grease gun tube,last time I looked and expensive,as is Toyota bond. So with that saud Ultra black should be fine.

I would install the RTV on the pump side,not the machined block. I guess it didn't come with instructions eh?

I will find out what the old one looks like Saturday morning. The metal stamping that came with the water pump looks more like a retainer than a gasket. I imagine that it will become obvious when I remove the old water pump. I appreciate the tip on Toyota bond.

Yeah I imagine it will. No prob on the Yota bond. Take it light.
