I'm putting on water pump #4, the only good thing is I can now do it with my eyes closed. The original pump lasted 105k miles. Since then a pump will last 10-15K miles. The pumps will start to squeak and 2-3K miles later will be leaking.

I am buying good quality pumps that have a "lifetime" guarantee (from Napa). So no replacement cost other than my time, and a reluctance to take the vehicle on a long trip.

The with the last pump (#3) I replaced the tensioner, belt, and fan clutch. All the pulleys seem to be in alignment. I'm using good quality coolant mixed 50/50.

Any thoughts or ideas about what else might cause repeated failures????

Strange problem, I'd add a water pump lubricant, maybe that'll help. Have you asked a Ford mechanic if that is a common issue? Maybe your best bet would be a Ford water pump if the reman ones aren't lasting.

...how long did the original last??? i would guess the brand you are using should be changed...

...btw, go smith bulldogs...:D
