Weird instrument panel problem

Hi folks;
got a problem on my 96 XLT... when I have my lights off, my "speed control" and "overdrive off" lights on the right side of the instrument cluster work fine. However, when I turn my lights on, those two lights go off. Any ideas? It's been this way since I bought the truck a couple of years back.

It is likely that your headlight switch is broken or the lead LB/R going to it is broken off... it should have voltage on it for those lights (and more).
