Hi guys!
I have again problems with wet headlining.
I've searched maaaany threads, I've cleaned drains - but problem is still present.
The most moisture is on the lining corners - it is dripping after rain/snow melting.
Center (behind the mirror) and side part of lining is wet, but not so much as corners.
Lining around sunroof is dry.

Any ideas how to solve this problems? If problem would be again with clogged drains - then after opening sunroof I'd see water which could not go down through drains. And now it is now visible so I would not consider this option.

Another idea - maybe it's connected with windshield seals? I am suspecting this circled point. Inside this hole I found something like loose foam seal, maybe it is corroded? It's possible as the worst moist was after leaving car ing garage with snow on the roof -> then it melted and water went inside.

And if so - would you try to seal this point with black window glue (seal)? Or it's better to go to windshield workshop and reassemble windshield again with new glue?

Or maybe there is another option which I am not considering?

Thanks for all advices & merry christmas!

The only way to truly find the cause and correct it is to pull out the headliner and then spray or pour water on the roof and look for what is leaking. I just had to do this myself.

Here is what I found.

Solved - Fixed two roof leaks on the 98

And how I removed and reinstalled the Headliner

Drop Headliner

When my Mountaineer was leaking, I temporarily sealed the sunroof and it still leaked. Which let me know it was the windshield. A co-worker body tech fixed it and that took care of the majority of the leaks. I still had a slight leak so I dropped the headliner and poured water on the roof to see if the drains were clogged. They were clear, but I think the weather strip that's attached to the sunroof glass is dry rotted and allowing water in

Finally I managed to take care of my wet problem :) Sunroof drain tubes were disconnected....and all the Water was leaking onto my knee and into the interior.

I recommend this video "how to" remove headliner - 10 min of work to reach these drain lines

Thanks for help :)

That would do it. Glad that it worked out for you. I know from personal experience it takes a lot of irritation to drive you to the point of removing the entire headliner, but that is what really needed to be done.

I didn't have to remove entire headliner but only front part of it :)
