i just recently purchased a 2000 explorer and want to get on the road to upping the horsepower on it. does anyone know of any good quality superchargers out there? and what about turbochargers? if i wanted to up the power alot more than a supercharger could offer would it be a good idea to install a more powerful base engine? also what kind of engine could fit in the explorer compartment? would the stock rear end and tranny be able to withstand the power of the new engine or other components? would nos be a good thing to do for the factory V-8 5.0, or would it just tear too much stuff up?

regear to 4.10:1 if you are serious about dragging or whatnot.

then do a SC.

Troll has a nice 5.0L... check his out under the sport truck section

trolls gear ratio

hey , you told me to get a 4.10 axle instead of a 3.55 and then you told me to check out trolls homepage. now i may be mistaken but i thought troll had a 3.55 axle too right?

I believe that he has a 3.55 rear end since he has enough horsepower to do 11s. If he had 3.73 or 4.10 gears, he'd be wound out about 1/2 track.

If you build an engine like Trolls and want to run a 1/4 track that you still need to be accelerating at 120 mph, then keep your gears. If you are going to SC your engine and run it on the road (up to 100 maybe) then swap in 4.10s.

ok cool well just to tell ya i am most likely going to modify mine like troll. i am still trying to find out how much a 347 stroker engine with all the accessories costs. my bet is that it will not be cheap by any terms. it is ok i plan on being able to put quite a bit of money into it. thanks for the gear recommendation.
