Idling. In park or in gear with foot on brake. If turn steering wheel back and forth (right and left) can hear knocking noise.

Has been there awhile but getting louder. Front end has slight wander that's not been there before.

Appreciate all replies.

I'd lift the front end on jack stands and poke/pull/pry to see if there's any play anywhere, especially in the tie rod ends, or worn or failed sway bar links, and of course the upper and lower ball joints.

Depending on what has been replaced in recent years, you could have the cumulative effect of more than one worn part in addition to the one making the noise. At some point many people elect to replace multiple parts at once while they have it taken apart for access... If you're DIY'ing the work.

And, use quality suspension parts if needed (unless you get a thrill out of re-doing your work on a frequent basis).

Check out steering shaft too.
