ok my grille guard is 2 years old and the paint is starting to peel and its rusting. Im planning on taking it off this weekend and repainting it. I cant decide if i should just repaint it black like it is or maybe paint it green to match my explorer or some other color. Im thinking the green might look a little trashy. what do you guys think? what color should i paint it? thanks

I've seen a few cases where the tubular stuff painted to match looks great... I don't think I'm going to do it on my brush guard for my island blue (which is just like teal) F-150, just because I think the black on teal looks great. Although I will be attacking (or having attacked) many other items with a paint gun (by a body shop of course, my paintings always come out crappy) including new flares, going to paint to match the airdam (which is going to require removing the brushguard, and removing the two sets of lights contained therein, then removing the airdam. ALso going to paint to match the new hood (ram air style, whichever one I finally decide on) and probably some items within the engine compartment, but those I can do with spray paint... things like the throttle body cover, the air intake tube, and so forth. Everything else is already painted to match except the chrome bumpers, but I'll leave them be...
so in other words, my recommendation is leave it black.

Paint it to match!

I have a limited so the whole truck is painted the same color. The brush guard is painted to match and it looks great. What I would suggest though is getting some good rust stop primer under your new paint, I know mine has a couple of rust spots around the welds and such. With mine a black one would not look good and also the crome would look funny seeing it would be the only chrome on the truck. Just my opinion, check my pics if ya want.

It should come in black. I'd say leave it and spend your money on something else. I like my guard. It's black, it's a guard. If i get into a fender bender and it's scratched or worse.....it's just a guard. Painting it will make you want to protect something that protects something else. I personally don't have the energy to maintain my guard in pristine condition. Rust i can repair..paint....man...i'd forget it. LOL! :)
My 2 cents. Thanks for listening. :)
