1998-2001 Ford Explorers/Mercury Mountaineers. Should you not pay as much for say a 1998 vs a 2000 if the condition and equipment are the same? I'm still looking at 1998-2001 Explorers/Mountaineers, for my daily driver/occasional car on a trailer towing.

Year Range: 1998-2001.
Engine: 5.0L V8, under 100,000 miles.
Drive: 2WD.

You've got all the information now. So what did you pay, and what will you pay?

My 01 5.0 AWD with 101k I gave 5800 for in 2005

Now that gas is up, if you can find one, they can be had for less.

99 sport 4.0 ohv has a lil over 110k with a new rebuild tranny cooler lines and all that with a year/unlimited miles warranty got her for 3,200. I don't think i got over 4,000 just b/c that what i see them sell for around hear.

Its pretty hard to find a 2 wheel drive 5.0, most of them are awd.
Now that gas prices are ridiculous I see them for sale all over the place.
There's a 99 mounty with 120,000 in my grandparents neighborhood in Kissimmee for $3,200.
I'll get you the guys number if you'd like it.
Its probably less than an hour from lakeland depending what part of town you're in.

2006 xlt 4x4 bought January 11th of this year (08) it had 28,000 miles on it and I paid $18,000, bought the extended warrenty and factory alarm for an additional $2,000. So my grand total including tax came out to about $20,000

I got my 01 sport with 12,078 miles for 13,500 for it. I got it in sometime in 2005 I got a really really good deal cause the owners at first wanted to sell it for 23,078 but somehow we negoicated and we lowered it to 13,500.

So I got a good deal on my 01 sport.

Just bought a 2000 V8 with 2wd EB that has 78k. I paid $4,100 for it, though i had to drop 500 for new tires. Great condition. So far im getting 18.5 mpg with mixed driving. I was getting 15mpg with the 1996 5.0 AWD i replaced it with.

I bought my 97 back in 2006 with 96,000 for 6,000
I think now i would be lucky to get 5,000

I paid $2500 in February for my 98 4x4 Sport, leather, all power, sunroof etc... I put some money into it, but it was a good deal for what it was, solid body and drive train.
