:nono: I just wanted to know because for some reason I can not think of anything. My dad says to use silicone. He uses that stuff for everthing. I think that woould look bad. I guess I just want it to look factory. Thanks for the help Joshua.

Hey Joshua, my name's Joshua, good to meet you, welcome to the board. I drilled a hole in my roof too about, oh i'd say 9 months ago because i ran my wires from my lights on my roof rack, which you can see on my pages below, and i used black silicon on mine. Now, for some reason, every once in a while i have to put some more on it becaues it kinda deterates(sp?) or something, dries out i guess. It works okay, but if i let it go then it leaks when i wash, when it rains and it stains my head liner. I've been thinking of using some bondo or something and cleaning it up good and painting it because it's permant. I'm not going to remove the wires for anything so why not. If you come up with a good idea be sure and let me know so i can do it to. Thanks.

Happy trailes!

There are rubber grommets that you can get for this. Basically, they are a rubber disc. You drill a hole, put the grommet in with silicone, then punch a hole in the grommet for the wires. The grommet (and a little silicone) will seal around the wires much better than just silicone. Good luck!

Sounds great, but you left one thing out, where can we get them at? I need something like this! Thanks

Garden City eh?? I usually work at the Livonia tranny plant for Ford, but right now I'm back at school. Welcome to the site... you'll find an answer to any question you can think of here... and more I'm sure.

This is because you used a water based silicone. What you need is 100% silicone and you'll be set. Rubber grommets will also need to be sealed with silicone. Your best bet is to drill the smallest whole needed and then seal it inside and out with 100% silicone.

That's what it is, i knew there was something wrong because silicon shouldn't waste away like that, thanks man, i'll try that tomorrow!

Happy trailes!

Thanks for all th help guys

Thanks again for the help. I think I am going to use the rubber grommet idea with the silicone. That should stop the leaks I hope.

Try a marine antenna wire fitting. Clean look and waterproof.
