I am around 3.5k short of the 60k and I been looking around the interest and I am seeing things like 5-600 dollars for this at the dealership?:eek:Is this correct?

I know this is a big one but 600 WOWWW. Anyone know around the price for this one?

I know I can go to an independent shop, but ford is crazy when it comes to the ESP. I don't want them to deny a repair saying that the maintenance wasn't done right or something similar...

How much was your X 60k service?

10$ air filter
10 $ fuel filter
oil filter and oil

I didnt do anything transmission yet.

Unless they "find" other problems that sounds about right.

$600 for like what? If i remember at 60k the only thing 'official' was the oil/filter and Air filter. Most of the fluids are 'engineered' for 100k which is when its suggested to do the Plugs.

My (imho) 60k suggestions:
Oil/Filter - $20
Air Filter - $15
Change and refill the F/R Diff's $20
Change xfr case fluid (just too easy not too and not too expensive) $10
and save you money.

Around 80-100k id add
Oil/Filter
Air Filter
Change and refill the F/R Diff's
Change xfr case fluid
Fuel filter
Change Plugs
Change Coolant
Trans fluid - drop pan and refill, NO flush.
cross your fingers . . .

If you were to do the 60k services you listed yourself then I would agree with your numbers. Also a fuel filter is listed on the 60k service. Add the labor from the stealership, disposal fees, and lets not forget those "Misc shop fees", (which BTW no one can ever explain to me what it is) then you will be approaching the $500-$600 mark. I had my 05 in for this service about a year ago. After a few other things (pinion seal, ball joint and a trans flush. There was something else but I do not recall what it was) my bill was about $1200. Just the 60k service I was quoted around $500. I thought I was being proactive in getting the trans service but that was a big let down as I replaced it about 1000 miles after.

I'd do the oil/filter & significant fluid changes (trans, diffs, transfer case) @ the dealer until your ESP (100K?) is up.

Unless you keep OCD level receipts & a mileage/fuel log. I always have & it saved my but with Subaru on my WRX when it ate (3) Main & all (4) rod bearings out of nowhere @ 67K miles.

Things like air, fuel & cabin filters, lube/grease, tires & rotations, alignments, suspension, brake service etc, is all home-wrench stuff.

I have a log book with every fill up, oil change, every single part, nut, bolt, bulb, with receipts. Its in a computer program I found online from freeware several years ago. I track all 7 vehicles in the house on it.

I also have a binder for every vehicle with receipts, instructions, directions, TSB's, important news clips etc to cover my butt. Again... all this OCD saved my butt from a near $5,000 out of pocket engine repair on the WRX.

As I see it its about walking in with all your guns gleaming that you are loaded for bear. & not afraid to use them.

Back to the question:

straight from Ford's Service site:

60,000 Mile Service Schedule

* Inspect automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with underhood dipstick)
* Replace fuel filter
* Perform multi-point inspection
* Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage,ball joints,suspension joints,half and drive-shafts and u-joints
* Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system
* Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields
* Inspect engine cooling system and hoses
* Replace engine air filter
* Change engine oil and replace oil filter
* Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise

So they are going to do ALL the things they do at a normal oil change... for $600!!??!! Whata-Bargain!

Funny how the "inspect transmission" has the disclaimer "if equipped with underhood dipstick" which none of us have had since 2004.... too funny

100,000 Mile Service Schedule

* Change Premium Gold engine coolant
* Replace spark plugs
* Replace PCV valve
* Perform multi-point inspection
* Inspect accessory drive belt(s)
* Change engine oil and replace oil filter
* Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise

all available at: www.ford.com at the bottom hit "service" then enter your 411.

Heck if you are REALLY paranoid, buy the fluids & parts @ the dealer, install them yourself, save the receipts.

oH!... because I JUST asked today.... non-dipstick trans "service" which is "open the trans cooler lines, suck out all the fluid, which is measured, then a cleaner is pumped through the system to clean it properly. then an equivilent amount of fluid is returned to the system plus special additives & conditioners to protect & nourish the seals."

I then asked "what about the filter & requisite gasket?" reply: "Oh these newer units no longer have a "filter" per-se, they are self contained that's why they don't have a dipstick. There are no longer owner serviceable parts in the units."

Cost?

$190!!!! 2 hours of time.

Chew on that!
