91 Explorer XLT
Hi all,

I have a 4 dr. 1991 Explorer XLT.

I'm just finishing up some bodywork, and I need to know the name of the color of this pig.

It doesn't have the data plate in the door telling the trim/color code, so I can't reference that.

It's a white explorer. Was there more than one kind of white used on the explorers for 1991?. What is the actual name of this color? glacier white, oxford white, antique white, yadda yadda.

All I can find are generic "1991 Ford color charts" and they show a few different shades of white!! :fire: If there was only one white used on the '91 explorers, what white was it?

any help would be awesome!!

There was two whites used on 91 Models. Oxford White is one and Antique White(not sure on that name) is the other one. Oxford White is A bright white found common on 91 Eddie bauer, and sport models, the other White was more of an off found only on XLT models. The off white color was only used in 91. Hope that helps

That link lists the off white as just "white" Code YY My parents had a 91 That color

Oxford White is the other color Bright white Code YZ

If you are looking to make a butt match or a good blend, then your best bet is to go to a body shop supply store and have them take a picture of the color with a Dupont Chromavision type camera (they will know what your talking about) because even if you had the right color code, the elements of nature fade your paint over time and change the color so you won't get a good match anyway, most stores won't charge for this service providing you buy the paint from them. GOOD LUCK
