What is this hose for?

i was taking off my rear shocks yesterday and i noticed a hose connected to my rear axle and the other end just is held on to the frame with a clip. My first thought was that something was cut but i didn’t find the other half of it. Does anyone know if this hose is supposed to be like that or is something missing here? thanks in advance.

It's a breather hose, I believe.

Yeah, that is the breather hose. It lets the axle breathe, but it is up high, so water doesn't get in...
