Hey guys,
I know that when I do the torsion key flip it will throw my car outta camber. Only question I have is what kit can I buy at the local car shop to get it fixed myself before an alignment to save the installation fees (since they are going to align it anyways might as well just get those things in there to save that $50 bucks and let them fix whatever adjustments I missed)

Key question is, what are these things called? Are they universal? I don't care about my old tires because I'm getting a new set of wheels but I do care about my CV joints. I live in Canada so I have a Napa and Lordco auto parts stores. Any advice would help out guys, thanks.

Edit: I own a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD 2dr

Thanks jtsmith!

So I"m assuming the alignment kits work for both the Normal explorer and the Explorer Sports? As long as I get the year/engine right, I should have the right parts?

How do I know what to buy? It seems there is quite a large variety of parts. I'm not sure what precisely consists of a "kit" to get the car back into alignment after the torsion key flip. What exactly should I be expecting and how hard is it to install these? I read a sticky on installing the camber adjusters, but it was on a 2nd gen model, are they all the same for 3rd gens too?

The Moog K80065 in that link is what you need.

If I'm not mistaken third gen sports are the same as second gens.

Okay so re-reading this post again (I'm assuming this one will work on my 2003 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD since these kits are 95-01, mine is a 3rd gen like the 01), optilic suggested the ingalls adjustible camber kits....

So which one should I get? And is that basically the instructions on how to do it on that post?

Never did anything with cambers before and quite confused as to what exactly I need to get back into camber after the flip. Is this all I need?
http://store.summitracing.com/partd...iew=32&N=700+4294908331+4294924677+4294907830

They also have instructions listed here but it seems to be a different plate (link on top is part 29000, this one is part 29100, but just wanted to post it up in reference to installation instructions and compatibility with my truck:
http://www.ingallseng.com/parts/29100.htm

Excited to get this done but feel like a total idiot when looking at those instructions and optilic's post, i just don't know what to do! And other posts don't have clearer pictures. If anyone can direct me that would be much appreciated!!

I just purchased my camber kit from napa 4 days ago. do you have a napa store near by? if you do just go in their and ask them for camber adjusters for your year of explorer. it's usually a part that they always stock. if not im sure they will be able to get it that day.

So what part did you ask for? Just tell them year/make/model and they will have a designated part? How long was the install for you and was it like the instructions I posted up top?

i asked for camber adjusters for my year explorer 4x4. the upper control arms are the same on both yours and mine. the install only took me and a friend about an hour & a half to complete. the passenger side is easy. The drivers side can get difficult to get the bolts out because there is a fuel line and brake lines in the way. It just takes patience.... ill post a better write up once I find it in a minute....

Thanks for the info man,
Yeah that's the instructional i was reading over but found it a bit confusing. I guess once I look at the real thing rather than trying to visualize it it may become more apparent to me. Camber adjusters, I'll go head out and ask Napa for that later. Thanks in advance!

not a prob, you might want to call them and ask them if they have them before you head over there. if not have them get them for you.

Sounds good thanks man! Will post back on how that goes...

Moog baby

Essentric Cambers from Moog are great. They are easily installed and most places will adjust them for little to no charge. I changed mine over to them and the shop was surprised that they were good but i insisted on them being very close to perfect or as close it as possible.

Hmm...so I went to Lordco, Canadian Tire and Napa to check today.

I'll just post this up for Vancouver, BC explorer owners reference sake.

Lordco: MOOG K80065- $40 for one side
http://www.bestvalueautoparts.com/RenderScriptTemplate.epc?_cmd=epccat_VehicleWHD&yearid=1998%40%401998&makeid=28%40%40FORD%40%40B&modelid=5771%40%40EXPLORER&engineid=29295%40%40V6-245ci+4.0L+F%2FI+Vin+X+(OHV)%40%4029295&catid=9%40%40Steering%2FSuspension&subcatid=143%40%40Alignment+Kits+and+Tools&mode=PA&source=GOOGLEBASE&clientid=BestValueAutoParts&sku=45K0072&mfr=ACDELCO%20US&source=GOOGLEBASE&clientid=BestValueAutoParts&year=1998&make=FORD&model=EXPLORER&engine=V6-245ci%204.0L%20F/I%20Vin%20X%20(OHV)&cat=Steering/Suspension&subcat=Alignment%20Kits%20and%20Tools

Napa: Napa brand camber adjusters (adjustible only 3/4*), does not come with bolts- $80 for one side

Canadian Tire: none

So I'm guessing I'm going to head over to Lordco to pick up the MOOG K80065, these ones will work or should I just screw it and place an order online?

EDIT: Looks like the MOOG K80065 adjustment range is only from -1-5/8 to +1-5/8 Deg, I may want to opt for more and the Ingalls kit suggested above (http://store.summitracing.com/partd...iew=32&N=700+4294908331+4294924677+4294907830) can give me +/-2.25

So big question:

What do you guys think? Go for the Ingalls 2.25 one since there is no harm in having more adjustibility in case camber needs more adjustiment after torsion key flip? Or is 1 5/8* all I really will need to get the truck back in camber?

Are the MOOG's good enough or should I get the Ingalls? I gotta place my order soon!

They are far better than OEM junk, i have to say i was a bit iffy about it at first. But did some research and it was good aftermarket part without ponying up for the stuff that is top of the line that are for off roading. It's just a daily driver so no reason to go nuts.

OK, dumb, but somewhat related question: Why are you flipping the keys?
