'94 Explorer XLT
Hi All!

I bought a '94 Explorer yesterday, and am wondering what model it is. All that's on the outside is "Explorer". This is my first 4x4. The stats on her are:

4.0L V6 4x4
Automatic
Alloy Locking Wheels
Power Windows, Locks, and Mirrors
Power Steering & Brakes
ABS
AM/FM Cassette
Front Bench (Cloth)
Rear Fold-down seat
Rear defroster
Air Conditioning
Tilt Wheel
Cruise Control
Roof Rack

First of all welcome to the board. We hope you will have as much fun as we have since we joined this big family.
Hopefully you will be able to find others in your area on the board to do some runs.

As for your Explrorer there should be something on the rear hatch. What you explained is about every Explorer, but if I had to guess I would say it is a XLT since it has the power windows and locks.

Word of warning, be careful of the bug. Next thing you know you will be lifted and playing with the big boys.

WELCOME!!!
:D

It is an XLT. Guess I was so excited yesterday, I didn't see the XLT designation on the back. Thanks.

Too late. The bugs already hit. I also have a '92 Mazda Miata I bought about 2 years ago that has about $7k worth of upgrades on her. Guess now I have a second vehicle to hop up.

I guess I'm wrong. The center mid-seat console is connected to the driver's seat. And there's a seatbelt for a center front passenger. But both outside seats are individually ajustable.

Hmm... I've never seen one like that. Maybe you're not completely wrong.

BTW, told you you'd get the bug. :)

Hmmm, with a front bench seat, it sounds like it is an XL model. I'm guessing it's a 4 door because of the bench seat (there were a couple of 'fleet' explorers that came with bench seats), 'cause I don't think the Sport (2 door model) came with a bench.

Welcome to the sight, as a couple of others have said, you'll have the modification bug soon. :D

do you have any pictures of the bench seat? i just cant picture it. although my suburban had a front bench seat (it was the only suburban i ever saw with a bench)

Here's a picture of the front seat.

is that a manual transfer case shifter that i see?
then that means you have an XL.

i never saw an explorer with front seats and a console like that. i like that console better than mine.

It can still be a XLT if the people ordered it from the factory. We have seen lots of cars that aren't the top of the line have everything in it because it was ordered that way.

So since you do have the bug already you should be ready for Moab next year in May????!!!!!!

Yes, she does have a manual transfer case shifter on the floor, and she has Explorer XLT on the back. So, this isn't a standard set-up for the Explorer?

I'm in the Air Force and the AEF I'm assigned to is scheduled for March to May. So, I'll probably be someplace else in the world in May.

Welcome

Do you have any pics of the Miata ??? I'm helping a friend build his 91' , T3/4 turbo , 80 shot of NOS , Etc. . After the motor is done , about 2 more weeks , he's lookin to to a body kit and wheels. Any suggestions ???

Sharkey, my '92 Miata's page is at Dead Link Removed

All I've done to the engine is increase timing to 10 BTDC, hi-flo header and exhaust, cold air induction, 4-wire O2 sensor, and new plugs and wires. Haven't done any forced air or NOS. Doing turbo and NOS on a '91 engine is gonna put a lot of strain on the motor and drivetrain.

For good advise, go to the miata.net forum (links on Sharkey's page).

Welcome to the site!

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. Sounds like you have a pretty unique X. Do you have anymore pics of her?

Glad to see you found us and an interesting X as well.

Happy postin'!:)

I'm authoring a web page for her. Also, need to name her.
