What's that smell?

Is that smoke?

Here it is after the fire was out. I had it out before the police or FD got there. Got fire extinguishers from two neighbors, one was worthless, the other (dry chemical) worked wonders, but not before the whole engine compartment got toasted. Wire harness, computer, intake, master cylinder res, etc. Luckily, though, since I left the hood closed until I had the extinguishers ready, the fire didn't get hot enough to enter the passenger compartment.

On a side note, has anyone had an early 2nd gen totaled recently and/or know what the payout would be?

By the way, I think the fire was caused by the fuel lines under the manifold leaking.

That right their is why I have an extinguisher in the car all the time! I saw my cousins truck burn up on the way to Bigbear and all the ammo in the back going off on the side of the road. I vowed that I would not be cought in that pickle I have carried an extinguisher since. And once put out a mnivan on the grapevine the family was greatful because they had alot of stuff with them

I think the fuel lines under the intake manifold leaked. Wife said she thought she smelled gas earlier in the day, but was following a Uhaul truck, so she thought it was from it.

So, high pressure fuel + hot engine + electrical connections = fire.

Yea, a fire extinguisher was on my list, just hadn't gotten that round tuit yet.

man i should prolly get a fire extinguisher for the back of my X...

probably want one of the ones that handles all 3 fire ratings...
anyone know a good place to get one for relatively cheap? (Darn being a poor college student)

Someone posted pics a little while ago of another caught on fire.

Ring Ford customer service up and report it. Maybe something more wrong with these trucks

Yea, I keep thinking....hmmm, maybe I can buy it back and get a V8/4R70W to throw in there....The interior is fine. Either that, or buy it back and part it out.

As for the price?
My dad had a wreck in his 97 xlt sohc (67000 on the clock) in December, did like 7700 in damage, not totaled: so it should be more than that totaled.
