ok so i know that it has been done and i know the information is out there but for some odd reason this whole backspace and offset thing just isnt clicking in my head.
the stock wheels are 17x8 with a 40 mm offset and 6 inches of backspace i believe (please correct me if im wrong) im currently running 265 70 r17 tires which come out to about 32x10.50
my question is what offset or backspacing would i need to run an 8.5 or 9 inch wide rim and 12.50 wide tires? any input or opinions would be greatly appreciated. the whole aftermarket wheel business is far from my forte and im really just looking for some information, maybe what you guys are running or what you have seen guys run on our explorers
ideally i would like to keep my wheel as close to even with the fender cladding but would really like to see what everyone has tried on their explorers
thanks for any input you may have
