Well I need to make some decisions, namely what lug pattern I'm going to run. At first 5x5.5 was the easy choice with the 8.8 rear and D44 front, but it's not that simple. The extra width is starting to worry me. My baseline for width is the old D30 with 4" backspacing 15x8 wheels, giving 68.5" between outer wheel edges.
So I'm looking at 17-18x8 5x5.5, 5x135, 6x5.5, and 6x135, my reasoning:
5x5.5 - Easiest, already have it. Greatest backspacing I can find is 5.31", making a 71.4" width.
5x135 - Would have to convert the D44 without using spacers. Redrilling or? I have the 9.75 rear I could use that's already 5x135. I love some of the stock F150 wheels in this pattern. Max aftermarket BS is the same as 5x5.5.
6x5.5 - Huge aftermarket in this size. Front is cake to convert, rear will be a challenge. Plenty of wheels with 5.5"+ BS for a 71" or less width.
6x135. Again, I like the stock wheels a lot. Also I've found wheels with as much as 6.2" BS for a 69.6" width. I have no idea where to start to get this pattern.
All in all my favorite option is 6x135, especially if I can run some stock wheels (I've seen +44 mentioned as factory offset), but will be the most difficult to convert to. Any thoughts?
