Is there any way to figure out (or at least have an educated guess) at exactly what is leaking without pulling the tranny? I have 2 leaks. Oil and ATF. Both end up at the bottom of the bell housing. I think that the oil leak is BOTH the rear main seal (again), and the rear corner of the oil pan (arrghh!). Not sure about the tranny. Is there any way to figure out if it a seal in the tranny or possibly the torque converter?
I was thinking about having a shop do the rear seal, 'cause I just need this thing to go a little longer before I tear the whole thing down. But if torquing the pan bolts does not stop the pan from leaking, then there's not really any point to having a shop replace the seal. But if I CAN stop the pan from leaking, AND it's the torque converter leaking, then I could get the shop to replace the seal and torque converter (while it's out), and buy myself some time.
