When should my 01 302 shift out of first at wot? I just installed tmh's, mac intake and exhaust and downloaded a custom tune from james. The truck runs strong but i back out of it at 5k rpm before finding second gear. Should it shift by 5k??

Stock Tune = ~5k shift point @ WOT.

What did James set the shift point to? Above 5700 with stock valve springs, they can start to float...

How do you check what the shift points are set at? I don't want to damage my engine. What would be the best shift point performance wise without hurting an aging 302 with 100k miles on it?

Well, I would start by calling James.

yeah you can call james and see where he set the shift points, or you can hold the throttle open and see what happens. On your tuner you should be able to set the rev limiter in drive, so just set it at say 5800 rpm and if it hasn't shifted by then you should really call james and have your tune adjusted.
