guys,
after my recent success with "driveway timing" the 4.0 sohc of my father's, i recently came across yet another explorer with a bad ticker. turns out this is a 4.6 V8 xlt. i do not know much about these engines, except that they have been around in current form for a long time. trying to find a direct swap from ex/mountaineer can be a bit of a challenge financially so i am looking towards other vehicles that carry the same vin W engine. i would assume the car engines are the closest or am i wrong? by car i mean crown vic or marquis. i have also been told that the mustang 4.6 is very close. i am looking for the closest match to the explorer.
any input on this is greatly appreciated!!!
