w/ a 302 you have to go w/ the 2 chamber! or even if that's the 4.6 you have. either way, the 40 series is the muffler for you. i just sold my full size bronco w/ the 40 series delta flow and hollow cats. man, what beast. you would have sworn i was a mustang. i promise you that truck was the best you would have ever heard. the hollow cats make a HUGE difference. anyway, i also had a stereo, but w/ the windows up you the exhaust woul not interfear at all. the delta flow makes the in car resonance extremely enjoyable, but you have to use turn downs to go out all the muffler has to offer. as for size, flowmaster did not have a muffler listed for my application either. you have to take it a show and let them put it up on the jacks to see which application will work best(center inlet, center outlet or c. inlet, right outlet. you get the picture) you might also want to to look into free flowing cats. i can't recommend you hollow yours b/c it is illegal and i was a stupid kid at the time, but a free flowing cat should do the same. ah man, your gonna love it! -russel

ps- GET A TURN DOWN!!!!!!!!!
DON'T GET THE 50 SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

man, am i serious about my exhaust or what?

Check out www.flowmastermufflers.com
With a V8 you will, I think, need a dual inlet and then either sing. or dual outlets.
Looks like the 40 series dosent have dual inlets.
Anyway it's a place to start...

wow, that stinks. if that really is the case (which i can't belive it's not "Y" before the muffler) then your local muffler guy can do that for you in about 5 mins.. no big deal at all. you can just buy a single inlet and let the guy at the shop figure it out from there. i aslo think they make "X" and "H" pipe mufflers and the such for mustang applkications that might work in your case. good luck -russel

I have the same problem

If you find that they can get you a true fit 40 series let me know.
I was actually thinking that I/You could get true dual exhaust very easily. What about mounting two 40 series side by side, I'm not sure on the clearence aspect, but when theres a will theres a way. Mybe running dual exaust all the way back side by side. I think that should boost the power/performance even more.
Just an idea!

I'm expecting to do a true dual exhaust to do it "right". So I imagine single in and single out is what i need. Haven't looked into L,R, or center positioning yet. I imagine that might be a factot, too. I thought i just recently read a post about an exhaust mod or even some type of lift where the cats were almost a problem where they sat. Think your mods they whole way through before you start buying and hacking.

Also, is bigger always better-2.5/3.0 in., with respect to the piping, assuming it fits without any interference?

i have a 40 non delta and its on a 4.0 ohv and it is great. i love it. not sure of the exact part # but just go in and know your stock pipe size and say i want a flow 40 non delta 2 chamber with such in such a size inlet/outlet with this or no offset and they should be able to figure it out. that is what i did. i went to vic hubbard a performance store. like summit but mainly only deals with the gofast goodies and not with lifts and stuff
