I don't know if you've heard of this one: http://www.explorerexpress.com/supercharger-0203-explorer-xcharger-sohc-with-tuner-p-786.html but apparently it is very complete and comes with easy to follow instructions. It replaces the upper intake manifold. It's a roots type supercharger. This kind even comes with a tuner. This is assuming you have the 4.0 v6. Here is a video from youtube that talks about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0ekzpBGB28
They installed it on a 2007 v6 mustang, but its the same exact 4.0 SOHC V6 engine from the explorer. They said it makes good power and isn't too hard to install. Honestly, I'd go with this one just because it was made specifically for an explorer and doesn't require any custom fabrication.

I have a 4.6 v8. I have heard the 2001 2v mustang gt kit will work but what the best one

Oh, well if you have a 4.6 2V then I would check out Kenne Bell superchargers. They are extremely efficient, have heard that they are easy to install and produce great horsepower. They are twin screw superchargers, which are much more efficient than roots style blowers, but similar in design. They have very low parasitic loss and full boost comes on at just 2000rpm. They replace the upper intake manifold which makes installation easy. There's no need to tap into the oil pan or anything. It has its own contained oil. I've heard you can install them rather quickly. You'd probably need to do some tuning of some kind after the install, but it will make fantastic horsepower. If I actually had the money to get one I'd go with these guys hands down. Good engineering and simplicity. http://www.kennebell.net/ You'd probably be looking at this guy right here http://www.kennebell.net/superchargers/ford/gt96-03_2v/gt96-04.htm

thank you that was the one I was looking at. I just gotta wait till I get that nice piece of paper then im good to go

Eaton M90 will work, as will a saleen series IV.

If you're lucky enough, perhaps you can find an Allen Engines kit for the explorers (made especially for explorers, based on the eaton m90)

You dont mean Eaton m90 like the ones that fit the 3.8L v6 do you?

Because i have an entire m90 kit im trying to sell, lol, but if that will bolt on a 4.6L, then maybe i'll reconsider keeping it! :)

Yes i do mean the Eaton m90. The Allen Engines kit that a few people on this site use is an Eaton M90 based setup.

I say go with the Kenne Bell idea. I had one on a 2004 Mustang GT and made over 400 horses at the wheel with it. There's a bit of sticker shock involved, but that kit is 100% complete with the exception of a 180F thermostat, 1 heat range colder spark plugs and coolant. They even send the oil for the supercharger in the kit.

iirc, the OC purchased a 2.1 KB before he was deployed.

yep i bought a kenne bell 2.1. its sitting at my house only one issue. mountaineer still in the shop and im in fort sill,Ok. so when i get back im gonna install that along with the rb spacers im gonna pickup soon and new tires

i can only imagine what your mounty would sound like on a trail lol !!!!

your spotter " dude just keep giving it gas !!! "...

you - " what !!!! ????? " , ( constant high rev whistling noise )

lol hahahahahaha that would be to funny !!!!!!!

Actually the KB's don't make an incredible amount of noise unless you really stick your foot deep in the loud pedal. At idle and low speed it sounds more like a power steering pump going bad.

I used to love creeping up on people and nailing the throttle in my Mustang. The faces were quite funny sometimes.

from what i have heard or was told there is alot of little stuff to pickup like stuff to move the atlernator and random stuff. i was gonna peice mine together but i decided on getting a kit so when i do put it on i know i have everything. it sucked then i peiced my turbo kit together and you for get one or 2 little things and needed to stop
