Whine in rear

Hi I just changed the fluid in the rear diff and still have the whine when foot on the gas, let the gas off no whine what could this be. The explorer is 2003 4.0ltre XLT this is driving me nuts. Any advise would be great.

The oil I used was Castrol 75W 140 syn.

Probably bearings in your rear differential....try comparing the symptoms with what you read here:

I used the Motocraft recommended by the service bulliten.

I mixed with a full bottle of Lucas trans additive. It quieted the rear down quite a bit....not completely, but by a very noticeable amount. The Lucas bottle also states the "additive" can be used 100% without the rear oil.
