First let me say this site and you guys are great. I've been reading posts for the better part of two years now and I have learned a lot about my Explorer in the process. Thanks!

Now on to the problem...
First - 1997 Explorer, 4x4, Manual Transmission, 118,000
From 5mph I start to hear a whine coming from the drivetrain. The whine increases with vehicle and wheel speed. Unsure if it is from the T-case, tranny or rear diff, but the noise is always present when wheels are turning. The whine is much louder when the clutch is engaged and the truck is accelerating or I have my foot on the gas. Also the noise is the loudest when the i switch into 4H. I have checked all of my fluids and they seem good.

I am at a loss as to what to do. I have searched around and tomorrow morning I will disconnect the drive shaft to check the pinion bearings - other than that I guess I need to find a mechanic down here.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank You
