I am checking to see who from Col are heading to the EF Moab run in May? I want to figure if I should head to Denver and meet up with a group or meet on the way( I may take a more direct route, though Steamboat & Craig)

Who is going and when are you leaving???

Tim

If I can end up going, then I would like to leave Thursday or early Friday morning. I hear there should be some runs on Friday afternoon and don't want to miss a beat.

Me me sometime on WEd or Thurs depending on how things shape up
Would be glad to convoy if anyone is leaving the same time

The BII scoots on the highway hahaha and you gotta have a CB at least
I think it took me 6 hours last time from denver to Moab, 2.75 tanks of gas (23 gallons)
I will add an hour and 3 tanks for the 35" tires and V8 this time around

im going...as is spas in her lil rental from DIA...im sure there are some more ppl from CO...we need to put a link to this thread on the main Moab thread...which i dont know how to do *head into wall*

I'll be arriving at DIA around noon on Thursday... I wanted to get a head start so I could actually "see" all the scenery this year. By the time TwoTone and I reached Utah it was almost dark last year, and my first glimpse of Moab was at night. Granted, it was by the light of a full moon which was cool as all hell, but I still like to see the Rockies during the day :p: I'd like to stop at Golden again this year just for some 5 minute old Coors :D but it's not absolutely necessary. If you guys are caravaning I definitely want to hang with you. I DO bring my spare Cb, as well ;)

I was looking around at CB's yesterday and have no idea what to get. Any suggestions?

i think i might have an extra in the basement....that saying I need to wire mine up or just get a new better one.....

for these runs typically a radio shack $40 unit will work just fine with the magnent mount antennea

The CB is mostly for the trail runs, when we are packed into tight groups, if you want something better you can check local pawn shops, there are also still a few local CB/ Ham radio shops around
Truck stops also carry a HUGE selection of CB radios and antenneas

I have been using my $40 Radio Shack unit for years, although I did hard wire it, add an official mount and 6' whip anntennea to the back of my truck

It works just fine for road trips and wheeling

I use a radiosmack Cb for my spare with an itty bitty collapsible Magnet antenna mount and it hasn't failed me yet. For wheeling I have a smallish Cobra 19 (that I won off of Ebay for around $40 shipped) that's hard wired to my truck and uses a Wilson Lil' Wil magnet antenna. Mag mount antennas are fine for you lucky westerners and your wide open spaces... I usually only get about ten feet onto one of our trails and my antenna winds up dangling against my back window :p: I think Wal-Mart carries the Cobra 19's as well for not too much more than what I paid.

I got lost in Moab for 3-4 hours because the dust on my roof allowed my mag mount antennea to slide off, I stopped to put it back up (and pee) and by the time I got back going I made a wrong turn on some slick rock and was in no mans land on a trail that looked like only horses and wagons had been on it before....... Eventually Brett and Matt found me from the sound of my engine, but CB contact was gone

I now have GPS and a permanent mount antennea

Well, I already posted on the main Moab thread, but I'm pretty sure that i'll be able to come up with the offtime and funds (I hope). So me and the misses will be headin' out on Thursday, if that's the game plan for everyone else. Never done much wheeling and I need to do a whole hell of alotta work on my engine before she'll be up for the challenge though. (at least get her running smooth and lifted)

Oh, and I need to get a CB too.

I should be able to get my lift done here pretty soon. I'm looking into a 4406 swap for the AWD > 4WD conversion. Would any of you guys in the Denver or Springs areas be willing to help if I start hunting down parts? I like doing my own work, but I certainly know when I'm getting in over my head, and know this is not a job I want to tackle on my own.

You get the parts I will help you install that sucker in 4 hours or so in my garage.

I have some local sources for some ofthe parts as well
We can even hook up the indicator lights on the dash

im always down! and 410, hes at the AF acad so has access to a pretty good garage so maybe doing it there?

410, I may have to look you up for help when I change my axles. I have the 4.10 front but am still searching for the rear. Hopefully before Moab if not I will be going with 3.73s

slow down fellas I am currently quite busy I have a wiring conversion harness being built for a race truck in CA in my den and a 91 Explorer getting a new engine and trans in my garage, as well as my own two trucks and the BII prep for Moab

I am setup to do the t case at my house, I dont want to pack up and haul my tools or try to use anyone elses, it goes much faster when you are working in your own shop for shizzle

Swapping the front IFS is a 4 hour job, the rear is another 3-4 hours job so a full long ass day from the time you grab the jack to the time you are bleeding brakes....I would plan a fell weekend for that and you ALWAYS run into something, a stubborn bolt, etc

I will probably be in the Denver area this weekend and will start my part hunting for the 4406 swap. I know of Pull-n-Save. What other places do you suggest I look for parts at?

edit: I found some Navigator 4x4 driveshafts on e-bay, front and rear for about $130 each after shipping. Worth it?

pull n save is not going to have a 98-2001 Expedition or late model F-150 in the yard! no way

Denver Ford Parts
Boot Hill Auto salvage
Colorado Used Auto Parts
Sviegles parts
Advance Auto
Denver Used pickup

in that order
the phone is your best tool

As talked about in the conversion threads the t case itself is almsost best to find online, the manual shift from the F-150 is not easy to come by in the yards

Once you get your t case we'll find you some driveshafts and the shifter parts

What would you say is an acceptable price? I found one in Michigan on eBay for about $175 + 50-100 for shipping.
