Who has repaired their arm rest with the metal bracket?

For those who replaced the plastic arm rest piece with the metal bracket, does the arm rest now sit on the center console lid when in use? Mine sits off the center lid about 1" and touches it when I lean on it. I was afraid I may break the plastic holding the metal bracket on with too much pressure.

I know this an old thread but where did you find the metal bracket??????
Found one about 5 years ago for my first but not now for another explorer.
