When I received my Apten Flasher, in the instructions, they were adamant about disabling the fuel pump by pulling the fuse prior to programming the truck.

I couldn’t figure out why, therefore, I started asking questions.

First I contacted Apten and they said “Honestly, I’m not sure the rationale for pulling the fuse. I know it’s a safety measure of some sort, but I’m not sure the exact riskâ€

Next, I contacted Superchip, the maker of the Flasher, and asked the same question. Their reply “If the fuel system is not disabled during programming the injectors can pulse and spray fuel into the engine."

I am still confused. Anyone want to further explain this one?

Thanks….

Just what Superchip said. It is remotely possible that while programming the computer it may activate certain ignition or fuel components.

If you're reading a book on how to tapdance, your feet may subconsciously move in a dancing motion while reading. ;)

Just a precaution to avoid possibility of flooding.
