I am just wondering, why we dont have one as a sub-forum in the Projects.... I know there are V8 swap threads, mine as well as others. It would be nice if they were lumped up into a thread. It would be pretty helpfull to lots of people planning one. Also, There would be a place to put them when someone is working on one.

Just a thought....

I second that motion!! Nice job Chief34.

Anyone who is reading, post up a link to any V8 swap stuff you can find on Explorerforum. I will put all the links in one thread, and then sticky that thread. :)

Are we having one for "in progress" and for "completed" v8 swaps?

What i think would be cool (but alot of work) would be to have someone or a few people compile all the info that would be needed to do a V8 swap. This would also be cool to have for other things too.

ohe_boy:
I guess that would be up to the moderator who is gonna sticky it.... There may not be enough of them to do that. It will probably just have to be one thread, but atlast all that helpfull info would be in one spot.

Ford_Nova:
That isnt really feasable because There are numerous ways to install a
V8..... Depending on what engine and trans are being used, there would be a completely different list of nescasary items.

I could probably write a book on it..... hmmmm, that might be a good idea actually.

'Come on V8 Guys.... Bring those links over here and lets get this show on the road. If you never did an actual write-up and you have pictures from the process, then Git 'er Done! Start one in the projects forum and put a link HERE!! this is long overdue!!! Man-up V8'ers....

I don't have a thread just yet but I'll be starting one real soon!

Are we having one for "in progress" and for "completed" v8 swaps?
No hard and fast rules, but IMHO im not going to include one as a link unless its at least "mostly" completed.

Ill give this thread a few days to compile our links, then ill put them all in one thread. Each link will be labeled with info concerning the type of swap and who did it. It will basically be a thread that, in the first post, has links to all the different V8 swaps so people will not have to search... simply check the thread.

Ill leave the thread open after its sticky'ed, that way if something new comes up later on and should be added, you guys can bring it to my attention and i can edit the first post and add the new link.

Sound good? :)

a book is what it would take to cover it
from 289 to 351
from C4 to 4r70w
from Dana 20 to Atlas 4.0
from 84 to 2001

every single conversion has a little something different, and its because the person doing the swap has the knowledge to overcome :)

Somebody planning a drivetrain conversion should read all these threads and then some

All the books that have been written seem to dissapear over time, AA has a conversion manual so does Duff, I know there are others out there.. but the interwebz and the phone is your best tool

I researched the V8 conversion for years, basically thinking man someday I would love to... what do you know when you get a bit older things like thie become possible! ($$$ and tools and space to do it, plus another ride to work while doing it, etc)

My conversion thread:
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124626

1988 BII 4x4 5 speed ---> 1993 4.0L OHV with 5 speed ----> 93 4.0L OHV with A4LD ----> 97.5 GT-40p 5.0L and 4r70w retain electric BW1354

what a ride!

There is some info abought mine in my ranger registry. And even some discusion abought converting a 5.0 to run of of draft beer. Check the link below. I would be willing to write up a thread if we had a v-8 swap registry. some thing like the sas one you know

If you want to do a write-up here, then we would all really appreciate it. Just post it right here in the main offroad projects area. The thing is, if i make one big sticky thread with links to all the V8 swap data the threads need to be from this site. :)

Hmm... Maybe I can post up my original thread on what not to do  Sad thing is, I've still got all the swap parts and can't sell 'em. Might land in the Jeep. I won't complain. Great wheelin body with a solid ford driveline!

This is great and looong overdue. Keep em coming guys!!
