Hey guys. I've got a 96' XLT 4 door Explorer..my front passenger side window gears are worn out. The motor works fine but the gears only grind now. I took the door panel and water shield off in order to get an idea of what I needed to do but it's nearly impossible to get a good look at anything. Could anyone here tell me how to change out the gears? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It's alot of work to change out the window regulator.. I would prefer to the glass shop to install a new window regulator.. They probably charge around $150 for labor plus whatever the parts cost is.. The glass shops are experts at removing the window and the regulator. They can do it quickly.. Also, they have the right knowledge to do it without breaking or scratching the glass. You might save money to do it yourself, but if you crack the glass by accident, then that's alot of money.

Good Luck
