i see a lot of people talking about bushings in the motor, but my issue is the bushings that ride in the actual rails. They fold or something and thus bind, keeping the windows from going up or down.

If I put them back in place, Windows move freely, for a time. Anyone else solve this issue short of a new regulator?

You can get those plastic slides. Check eBay or LMC truck. Think they sell them separately so you don't have to get a whole regulator.

if I understand correctly, the problem in this. This wear of the plastic parts of the motor. There is a repair kit from dorman. But I have solved the problem so.
1.Removed and disassemble the motor
2.Repair kit puts himself or cut the sleeve of the inlet pipe . So I did.
3.lubricates well
4.assembled motor put in place
