I noticed that my X started having a bit of rust at the point the roof is connected to the winshield. Is there a way to remove the black moulding without removing the winshield so I can acces the rust? Without too much dust getting in to truck.

I will be replacing the winshield in the near future, but didn't want to take it to a place to remove the moulding/winshield, then work on the rust, then have a new winshield re-installed.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hey Cow... you can cut the moulding off and you won't get any dust or water inside. It's for wind noise and appearance only. The glass is bonded to the pinchweld with urethane and it will not leak without the moulding.

Your new windshield will come with a new moulding so don't worry about cutting the old one off.

exactally.

the moulding is attached to the glass and will not come off unless you cut it off.
It wont leak but it will whistle like a son of a gun.

Wood knows what he is talking about.

Thank you guys for the fast response, just noticed a leak, and that the rust was under the moulding, so thought I'd fix it.

Since it'll be new, it makes my job easier...

Hey Wood1, I'll never laugh at a newfie joke again.... Thanks guys.
