hey guys, brand new here dont even own an X yet but am seriously looking at a 92 for pretty cheap. i live in buffalo, ny and neededa beater for the winter while i rebuild my mustang. i was just curious about whats the cheapest way i could lift an explorer? i was thinking just shackles and the f150 coil seats i read about? this wont see any extreme off road action and im really only looking for some more clearance for the snow. i only want about 1.5 to 2 inches of lift and the ride quality wont matter to much because, its gunna get hammered on lol. please help me out guys thanks in advance.

I just did the f150 coil seats and shackle lift on my 91. Gave it 2 inches and cost damn near nothing. I would definitely give it a go if I were you. You can click the link to my build thread in my signature and there are pics of it all.

You don't really need a lift unless you want to run 32-33" tires. You can fit up to 31's on most stock 91-94's. The stock 235/75R15 or 30x9.50's seem to do better in snow, with the slightly thinner width.

Assuming everything else is in good shape, you really don't need anything other than working 4x4 and either winter or All-Terrain tires. An X is quite the ideal winter driver. Add a set of tire chains and it's tough to beat, on or off road.

if your wanting more ground clearance a lift wont get u anything but more body clearance u want to get bigger tires to get more axle ground clearance
