Wiring Harness in '98 explorer

I am currently installing an aftermarket HU and have a question about the two stock harness plugged into the factory radio.

One harness has the power, ground, speakers, REM, etc. However, the second harness has only a single gray wire with a black stripe.

Does anyone know what this wire could be? I would like to know what it is (out of curiosity) before I remove it..
